Oatly: A Strategy for Giving Back

Oatly is committed to environmental brand activism as a core practice of their business. As a newly listed public company, the Board of Directors commissioned the CEO to develop a deeper approach to community impact. Oatly engaged Verify to design a community impact strategy that went above and beyond their commitment to environmental sustainability.
Work
We love comparative research and learning from other organizations committed to similar causes. By digging into other organizations and pairing our findings with extensive subject matter interviews, we created a holistic view of the options available to Oatly. With these options, we worked with the CEO to map their leadership values and capabilities with what's available to choose the best path forward.
Impact
Oatly decided to pursue an impact investment fund supporting entrepreneurs and businesses on the front lines of consumer's transition to more sustainable food chains. In 2021, Oatly launched the The Big Idea Grant Fund. Now in its 3rd year, the Fund has made grants to 14 small businesses enabling them to pursue projects and innovative ideas that lead to a more sustainable future for their communities.
